Avustus/ Aid

We had an opportunity to buy our bags full of medical aid with the money that was left over. We gave them to the local clinic and to the Port au Prince were they needed more of them.

Thank you for you financial help!! The medication was needed.

Kiitos taludellisesta kannatuksestasi!! Lääkkeet menivät tarpeisiin.

Greetings from Haiti

We are live and well. We have been 10 days in Haiti in a YWAM base located in Saint Marc. It is in North about an hour away from the capital Port au Prince. When we arrived here we could see the capital that was in very bad shape. Many of the houses were destroyed and the ones that were still standing had some crack on the walls. The destruction was very evident at the President's palace. The middle of it was a dome that layed now on the ground.

Some of the houses are not inhabitable because of the danger for more collapses. So we saw strange looking tents made out of sheets and tarpaulins. The biggest need is to find a accommodation for the people until the city has been rebuild. There is about 2 million people who are living at the streets or at the tent cities. Half of them were homeless before the earthquake.

We have been working in Saint Marc. Working in kitchen, cleaning, registration of the refugees and the construction side. This are just some of the things that we have been working on. Mornings starts with worship and prayer. After that we start to work and the only breaks are the lunch and dinner times. Evenings are usually free but most of the times we are very tired and end up sleeping before 9.00p.m.

Terkkuja Haitilta

Olemme hengissä ja hyvissä voimissa. Olemme olleet nyt 10 päivää Haitilla, Saint Marcin missionuorten keskuksella, noin tunnin ajomatkan päässä pääkaupunki Port Au Princestä pohjoiseen. Tänne tullessa saimme nähdä pahoin tuhoutuneen pääkaupungin, taloja romahtaneena ja pystyssä olevissakin oli halkeamia. Kongreettisin näky järistyksen tuhoista oli kuitenkin romahtanut Presidentin palatsin kupoli kumollaan kerrosta matalampana.

Talot ovat käytännössä asumiskelvottomia romahdusvaaran takia, joten siella täällä näki erinäisiä lakanoista ja pressuista rakennettuja asumuksia. Suurin tarve tällä hetkellä onkin tilapäisen asumisen järjestaminen. Pääkaupungin n. 2 miljoonaa ihmistä pitäisi majoittaa uudelleen rakentamisen ajaksi tilapäismajoitukseen, telttoja tarvittaisiin.

Me olemme työsekennelleet Saint Marcin keskuksella, siivoten, ruokaa tehden, pakolaisia rekisteröiden ja rakennushommissa muutamia mainitakseni.

Hello from Santo Domingo!

We are hera at Ywan base waiting our ride to Haiti border. Waiting here hasn't been worthless. We have had a change to rest after travelling but also to get prepared for Haiti. This base operates as resting place for people who are either going back or forth from Haiti. It has been pleasure to talk with those people, to hear stories from those who has been there and also with those who are going there. It has been very encouraging. We are leaving to Haiti at 4 p.m and heading to Saint Marc. We don't know yet what is waiting for us or how we are going to serve there. Our team is ready to serve there where is the biggest need and that's good. We will update this blog as soon as we have change to do it again.

Prayerpoints:
- Spiritual protection
- Travelling and crossing the border
- Healty
- All the practical things

Terveiset Saint Domingosta

Tervehdys taalta Saint Domingosta.

Rukoilettehan puolestamme
-Hengellinen suoja
-Matkustaminen ja rajan ylitys

Dominican Republic

We are now in Santo Domingo at the YWAM base. The journey was not too long but we surely need some sleep to get back to the business:)

The Base is AMAZING. It is a huge house that has many floors and swimming pool and different fruit trees. The weather is nice and we have been able to rest little. Now we are waiting for a supper and after that sleeping.

We heard today that we will be traveling to Haiti on Thursday when some volunteers are coming back. We also heard that we will be based on St. Marc and the situation is better there than in PAP. In some areas in PAP you still might see dead bodies etc. but it is not too normal anymore.

We asked about the situation in St. Marc and what kind of after care we need after Haiti. We were told that the situation is not that bad anymore but when we are going back to Finland we will spend some time with the YWAM Finland leader and his wife and go through our experiences. Jes and Amen!!

Thank you for your prayers!! We love you all.

ps. special hello to our families and that we are all good and happy:)

Dominikaaninen tasavalta

Missionurten keskus on UPEA.

Kiitos rukouksistanne! Me rakastetaan teita.

ps. erityis terveiset kaikille meidan perheillemme ja voimme hyvin ja olemme kaikki iloisella mielella:)

To Haiti to serve with our hands and feet

Couple of weeks ago we were interseeding for Haiti and the team felt in their heart that we would like to do more for Haiti. We wanted to go to Haiti and give our hands and feet to serve the people who were affected by the earthquake. After praying and talking and scaring the fears we give the whole thing back to God.

Soon we felt that we should go there and we started to fundraise the financies. It was amazing to see how our friends, relatives and even the people that we did not know wanted to support the trip and that way be part of the valuble work that we were going to do in Haiti. In a week we were able to pay the tickets and pay lots of aid for YWAM Haiti. We bought a BIG bag full of all kinds of medical stuff and it was a LOT!! We even got some discount because our Brazilian friend told the man that we are doing mission work. Praise God!!

What happens next. Tomorrow morning we will fly to Panama and change the plane and then at the afternoon we will arrive to Dominical Republic. We might stay over night in the YWAM base in Santo Domingo and next day get the ride to the border where YWAM Haiti will pick us up. After that we might go to St. Marc to the YWAM base where we will hear our workplaces. Some of us will work with wounded once, painting and fixing and prepairing the place for the new refugies and work where the need is the biggest. St. Marc is calmer place and the city is in a ok shape and espeasially the YWAM base is in a good shape and there is clean water etc.

We will come back 17th of February and fly back to Finland from Sao Paulo but for that there is much to do:)

We will try to update the blog in Haiti but because of the security we will not take the laptop with us. So the internet access might be little pit hard to find. Lets pray that we could at least update this page even if our personal mails would have to wait until 17th.

As a team we want to tank you all who gave to us and made this trip possible. We also want to tank you that you that you have been and will pray for us. Haiti is a dark place and in a great need of love of God and freedom from all kinds of shackels that the enemy has bild there. We want to be spreading the light and the love of God to the Hatians (is that even a word) and share them how valueble and important they are!!

Prayer points:

  • safetiness
  • traveling (Sao Paulo-DR, DR-Haiti and Haiti- Sao Paulo)
  • hearing the voice of God
  • the financies would be enough
  • health

Thank you for your support.
