The first days in Sighisoara

We're in Sighisoara, spending this week together with a Bill Willson team from Switzerland. We have visited four gipsy villages this far and had some program with the kids. It's quite interesting how the ad for the program is working here. We just go to the houses, knock on the doors and walk through the whole village telling everyone that we have a program for the kids. And almost all the kids show up. We have had about 100 per time, and enjoyed every minute with the kids. It's just so heartbreaking to see how the people are living there. At one place we had the meeting outside, the temperature was about -15 degrees, and many of the kids didn't have any shoes, only a few had gloves, and their knees were bared. It's so hard to understand even if you have seen it. But watching the kids' faces, seeing their eyes shining, touched us deeply. Indescribable.

Today we went for a prayer walk, praying for Sighisoara and the spiritual situation here. Amazing how God is working!

Last night in Medias

It was snowing last night and we were so happy to look outside this morning and see the winter wonderland;) It was almost like in Finland!
Today we have been cleaning the Medias' base and enjoying the free day while packing.
Tomorrow it is time to travel to the next place. Medias has been a very good place to start the outreach. We have lived in a new house in a fancy neighbourhood with a nice view over the town. The team gives all the glory to God!

Viimeinen ilta Mediaksessa

Viime yönä satoi lunta ja kun aamulla heräsimme olimme niin iloisia kun ikkunasta avautui valkoinen ihmemaa;) Ihan kuin olisi koti-Suomessa oltu!
Tänään olemme siivonneet lähes koko Mediaksen Missionuorten keskuksen ja vietetty leppoista vapaa-päivää sekä pakkailleet rinkkojamme huomista lähtöä varten.
Medias on kyllä ollut huippu paikka aktion alulle. Olemme saaneet asua ihan uudessa talossa ja vieläpä hienolla alueella mäen päällä josta olemme voineet ihailla kaupunkia. Tiimi kiittää Herraa!

Opetuslapseuskoulun aktio

Me olemme Opetuslapseuskoulu Rovaniemeltä. Olemme parhaillaan tekemässä kouluumme kuuluvaa käytännön jaksoa. Ajattelimme, että olisi hauska jakaa kokemuksiamme teidän kanssa. Joten pliiis tsekkaa täältä! :)

15. joulukuuta lähdimme kotimaastamme Romaniaan. Ensimmäinen määränpäämme oli Medias, kaupunki keskellä Romaniaa. Tähän asti olemme työskennelleet romanien parissa, vierailleet sairaalassa ja orpokodissa, osallistuneet useaan jumalanpalvelukseen jne. Olemme myös saaneet kokea romanialaisia jouluperinteitä. Se tarkoittaa joululaulujen laulamista ovelta ovelle, vierailuja kodista toiseen syöden herkkuja toinen toisensa jälkeen. Olemme nauttineet tästä erilaisesta joulunvietosta. Romanialaiset ovat niiiiiiin ihania ja vieraanvaraisia, että et voi olla rakastamatta heitä!

Romanialaiset ovat myös hyvin ihmissuuntautuneita - ihmissuhteet laitetaan aina ensi sijalle. Vaikka sinulla olisi kiire aikaa löytyy aina kahvikupposen nauttimiseen ystävän kanssa, jonka satut tapaamaan kadulla. Joitain mietittävää meille suomalaisille...

Lauantaina lähdemme Sighisoaraan, paikka, joka ei ole kaukana Mediaksesta. Siellä vietämme loput viikot Romania-ajastamme. 15. tammikuuta lähdemme takaisin Suomeen pariksi päiväksi, jonka jälkeen aktiomme jatkuu Islannissa.

DTS outreach

We are a DTS ( Discipleship Training School ) from Rovaniemi doing our practical part. We thought that it would be fun to share our experiences with you. So please, check it out! :)

The 15th of December we left our home country for Romania. Our first destination was Medias, a town in the middle of Romania. This far we have been working with gipsies, visiting a hospital and an orphanage home, taking part in several church services etc. We have also been able to experience Romanian Christmas traditions, which means going singing carols from door to door and visiting house after house, eating cake after cake. We have enjoyed this different way of celebrating Christmas, the Romanians are sooooo wonderful and generous that you can´t help loving them.

The Romanians are also very people orientated and relationships always come first. For example, even if you are in a hurry there´s still time for a cup of coffee with a friend that you happen to meet on the street. Something to think about for all Finns...

On Saturday we´ll go to Sighisoara, a place not too far from Medias, and there we´ll spend the rest of our time in Romania. The 15th of January we´ll go back to Finland for a coulpe of days, and then our outreach continues in Iceland.
